One of the reasons we, here at Inspyre, love fashion so very much is because it’s all about creating; creating something uniquely you and beautiful. Which is also the reason we love a good DIY! There is something special about a handmade gift. The person receiving the gift gets a one-of-a-kind treasure and the gift giver is left with a sense of pride knowing they created something wonderful with their own two hands!
This coaster DIY tutorial is perfect for all levels of crafting abilities because it is super easy, inexpensive, and you are left with a gorgeous final product for any gift giving occasion (or to keep for yourself, we won’t tell anyone)!
What you need:
- 25” x 4.25” square tiles from the hardware store (as many as you want- these babies are cheap!)
- 4” x 4” pieces of scrapbook paper
- 1 sheet of felt cut into smaller squares
- Strong adhesive
- Mod Podge
- Sponge brush
- Clear acrylic sealant (at your local craft store)
Brush a coat of Mod Podge on the top side of the tile. Place your scrapbook paper over the layer of Mod Podge. After you let the bottom layer dry, add another layer or two on top. It’s important to be patient in this step or you might rip the paper.
After the paper has dried, flip the coasters over and add your small felt squares with your strong adhesive- one to each corner. Leave flipped until completely dry.
Spray coasters with acrylic sealant in a well ventilated area and let dry. This will help keep your coasters water resistant and shiny!
Pick your favorite four and wrap them up with a cute ribbon for a new set of coasters! Don’t forget to add a cocktail!
